Welcome!

I’m so glad you are here!

I once had a professor in grad school ask me what I think most people are looking for in life (I should probably explain that I went to grad school for marriage and family therapy– not something you’d be asked if you had gone to school for engineering I bet!)  After thinking about it for a moment, I had a fairly quick response: love and acceptance. I think most people, whether they are 5 or 85 are looking for love and acceptance; from their parent(s), family members, friends, peers, etc. I think some of us spend our whole lives looking for it, while others are lucky enough to find it from an early age. There is of course a parallel quest for self-love and self-acceptance; the true peace and contentment of knowing that who you are is worthy and enough. This concept has really stuck with me through the years, and has changed the lens through which I view others.  It helps soften the jagged lines of the brusque stranger and allows space for empathy when judgment would be the easier choice.

While I’ve always been interested in mental health, over the last several years I’ve also become more and more interested in physical health and nutrition. There is an undeniable connection between our physical health and mental wellbeing. Both are instrinsically entwined and necessary in leading a happy, healthy life. I want to use this platform as a means of sharing the things I’ve learned, my thoughts and experiences while on my personal journey to whole body wellness. I’ve had my fair share of successes and failures, and I envision this to be a space where I can share my story of this rollercoaster we call life. I’m so glad you came along for the ride!

About

Hi there! My name is Agi, and I’m so excited to be starting this blog. I want to share a little bit about myself so we can get to know each other better. I live with my husband Taylor and our three boys (ages 5, 2 and almost 3 months) in a small town in Indiana.  Our youngest has CHD, a congenital heart defect called Tricuspid Atresia.  We met during college (Boiler Up!) when a mutual friend introduced us when I was a mere 19 year old.  We dated for 4.5 years, a lot of which was long distance, before getting married in 2013.  Fun fact, Taylor came to visit me while I was studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain during my junior year of college.

My family is originally from Hungary– I was born there and moved to the U.S. when I was almost 5 years old. All of my extended family still lives there, and we try to visit every few years. I’m teaching my own kids Hungarian so they can be bilingual too! Currently, I stay at home with our kids, and it is certainly the most challenging, and most rewarding, of all the jobs I’ve ever had. I always dreamed of being a mama, and even though it is far from a fairytale, I feel privileged to carry the title.

Like many of you out there, I’m busy trying to raise my babies, stay healthy, and stay sane! When the whole world seems crazy, we have to focus on the basics: love for ourselves, love for others, and hope for a better tomorrow.

xx,

Agi
